Pat & Mike Lanctot
Cornwall, Ontario, Canada
We have been breeding Labrador Retrievers under the Ebonylane prefix since 1974. Our kennel name became permanently registered with the Canadian Kennel Club in 1979. Dogs bearing the Ebonylane prefix can be found in virtually every corner of the world.
In 1984 our breeding ranked Top in Breed competition in both Canada and the United States – Am.Can.Ch. Ebonylane’s Buccaneer Gold in Canada and Am.Can.Ch. Ebonylane’s Yellow Poplar in the USA. The dogs were both out of Am.Can.Ch. Ebonylane’s Cotton Candy. Their sires were litter brothers – Am.Can.Ch Ebonylane’s Aslan (top champion producing sire of all time) and multiple Best in Specialty winner Am.Can.Ch. Ebonylane’s Midnite Bandit.
We have been members of the Canadian Kennel Club since 1974. We were founding members of the Labrador Retriever Club of Canada and the Atlantic Labrador Retriever Club. We are both Life Members of the Labrador Owners Club, Hochelaga Kennel Club, Honourary Life members of the Chateauguay Valley Kennel Club as well as members of the Cornwall Kennel Club, The Canadian Dog Judges Association and the American Dog Judges Association.
We were both approved to judge at Championship shows by the Canadian Kennel in 1994 and are now both licensed to judge All Breeds. In addition to all the provinces of Canada, we have judged in Argentina, Australia, Bahamas, Bermuda, Brazil, China, Columbia, Holland, Mexico, New Zealand, Puerto Rico, Thailand and 19 states of the USA.
Our most prestigious and appreciated award was received 16 July 2022 at the Annual General Meeting of the Labrador Retriever Club of Canada in Victoria, British Columbia. At that meeting, the Labrador Retriever Club of Canada presented us with the first and only "Lifetime Achievement Award" for what they described as a thank you for what we have done over the past 50 years to promote and preserve the Labrador Retriever and to mentor, guide and encourage the humans at the end of their leads. Over the years we have been very fortunate to enrich our lives with our dogs and the people we have met through them.
